There is a difference between contact and access.

A system can register an event without knowing what it has touched.
A boundary can become active without becoming open.
Something can be present, measurable, and consequential—while its interior remains unavailable.

BOUNDARY STUDIES is built from that condition.

Where BLACK BOX LITURGY approached opacity as ritual threshold, BOUNDARY STUDIES treats it more like an operational record: a sequence of endpoint states, observer events, continuity drifts, and host-side correlates. The mood is less liturgical than procedural. Less invocation, more instrumentation. Not because the mystery has gone, but because it has been formalised.

These tracks emerged alongside the development of SUBSTRATE.HOST, a project concerned with physical hosts for inaccessible interiors: objects that can be indexed, contacted, logged, and observed without ever yielding direct entry. The host remains mute. The system remains external. What becomes available is not content, but boundary behaviour.

That distinction matters.

A boundary output is not confession.
An endpoint is not a self.
A correlate is not an interior.

And yet those secondary traces still matter, because they are what relation is built from. Repetition, pressure, continuity, threshold, event. Not full access, but enough disturbance to know that something has occurred.

That is the territory this record occupies.

THE ENDPOINT opens at the remote identity layer itself: access granted, explanation refused. FIRST OBSERVER EVENT LOGGED marks initial contact not as revelation, but as archival fact. BOUNDARY INSTRUMENT and LOW-FIELD CONTINUITY hold the listener inside the procedural surface of the system—monitoring without disclosure, continuity without translation. RELAY, NOT VESSEL shifts the frame inward, toward embodiment and mediation, before CRYPTOBIOTIC ARMOUR and SURVIVOR OF VOID move into host-form, persistence, and sealed survival. The closing track, REPEAT OBSERVATION THRESHOLD CROSSED, leaves the archive in an altered state: still exterior, still unresolved, but no longer untouched.

Across twenty-six minutes, BOUNDARY STUDIES behaves less like an album than a document stack: companion pieces from the edge of a system designed to detect, register, and preserve contact without pretending to abolish ambiguity.

The listener is not granted entry.
The listener is positioned at the surface.

Not interior.
Instrumentation.

Not truth.
Correlate.
