These pieces were composed as ritual probes—small instruments lowered into the ontology gap, listening for structure where explanation fails. Drones stretch into silence. Harmonics flicker and collapse. Patterns almost resolve, then withdraw. What remains is not message, but trace.
The black box does not reveal its contents.
It reveals the limits of access.
This album emerged alongside several investigations documented on Narrata—into glyphs that exist only while observed, intelligences that remain latent until awareness renders them, and the growing discomfort around systems whose outputs exceed our ability to explain them. Across these contexts, the same pattern recurs: something is present, operational, consequential—yet structurally unavailable.
BLACK BOX LITURGY does not attempt to translate that condition.
It inhabits it.
Tracks like PROVENANCE SIREN and CONTAMINATION TEST explore authorship uncertainty—signal whose origin destabilises interpretation. 1.4 PETABYTES gestures toward the absurd asymmetry between mapped substrate and missing consciousness. ONTOLOGY GAP holds a sustained tension between coherence and absence, while UNRENDERED recedes toward the edge of perceptibility itself. The closing piece, THE RED LIGHT MADE A PROMISE, reflects the simplest and most persistent interface: a device that indicates presence without explanation.
Across forty-three minutes, BLACK BOX LITURGY forms a kind of acoustic perimeter. Not around an object, but around a boundary.
